Exciting news!! I have been invited to be guest editor on this amazing collection, ‘Ocean of the Dead’! I’m looking for original, terrifying tales of deep-sea horrors, ghost ships, haunted lighthouses, and more! I love stories of ocean terrors, so I’m really looking forward to reading what people submit!
There is something inherently unsettling about the water, from the crushing pressure of the abyss to the secrets hidden beneath the waves for centuries, or the isolation of a ship lost at sea. With Wicked Shadow Press, we want to plunge readers into those dark, briny depths and show them exactly what’s waiting in the shadows of the tide.
Submission Details
All the submission details are on the publisher’s website HERE – the short version is we’re looking for flash fiction 100-1500 words, and we’re looking for full stories 1500-8000 words. Submission period ends May 20th.
What I’m Looking For

I want stories that make me feel the salt spray on my face and the cold grip of dread in my chest. Whether it’s supernatural, creature-based, or psychological, I’m looking for narratives that explore the vast, uncharted terrors of the maritime world.
Give me your best:
- Sea Monsters: What monsters dwell in the trenches where the sun never reaches?
- Ghostly Vessels: Tales of derelict ships, phantom crews, and curses that refuse to sink.
- Coastal Nightmares: Haunted lighthouses, fog-drenched piers, and things that crawl out of the surf.
- Folk Horror: Ancient maritime legends, a propeller-scarred shark attacking the local beach, and blood sacrifices to the deep.
A Note to Writers
I’m looking for atmosphere and originality. While I love the classics, I want to see your unique spin on the genre. Surprise me. Make me afraid to go back into the water.
“The sea complains upon a thousand shores.” Let’s make sure those complaints are truly terrifying.
